IEP provided full production support for the 20th annual "A Midsummer Night's Magic" held in Los Angeles. More than 40,000 participated in various aspects of the eight-day event that began with a kick-off reception at Magic Johnson's Beverly Hills home to honor the event's many sponsors. Singer John Legend provided the entertainment.
The Anniversary week began with a black-tie dinner at the Century Plaza Hotel, called the Distinguished Legacy Awards. Recipients of the award were Muhammad Ali, Quincy Jones, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Tavis Smiley, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Russell Simmons, Eddie Murphy, Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Other highlights included two basketball games at the Staples Center, a golf tournament, Magic's Comedy Slam at the Kodak Theater and a concert held at the L.A. Center Studios featuring Chaka Khan, Ludacris, Teena Marie, and New Edition.
Providing full production services for a total of 7 events, spread out over the Los Angeles area over 6 days. Each event challenged us with audio, lighting, video (broadcast), staging, transportation, labor and creative. We also supported various audiovisual needs for the students at the LAX Hyatt hotel.
As a Full-Resource production company, we had the expertise, talent and equipment to orchestrate these events in a strategic manner. We set up a local warehouse where we could organize and track all equipment - ensuring an efficient utilization of company assets. Managed by our executive producers, we organized local labor and maintained proficient schedules that enabled IEP to effectively produce high-quality productions. Each event was video taped in HD for broadcast at a later date.
